Communication Across Generations

We live in a very interesting time - never before in our country’s history have so many generations worked together in one setting!

This presentation will review the generational cohorts and discuss the diverse perspectives, values, needs and expectations of each generation. In addition, we will explore the messages that motivate each generation and their desired training and development needs. Participants will learn how to interact with generations different than their own which will improve communication and build more effective teams.

The workshop will include:

▪ Review generational cohorts

▪ Training & development across generations

▪ Messages that motivate the generations

▪ Best practices in multigenerational workplace

Tedi is Professor Emeritus with UW-Madison Extension. She was the Family Living Educator and Director for Kenosha County University of Wisconsin-Extension for 30 years. Her program areas included leadership development, organizational development, strategic planning and community food security.

She also served as the Leadership Kenosha Facilitator for 10 years after having been one of the Founding Members for Leadership Kenosha.

Since retiring in the fall of 2017, Tedi founded Purple Lodestar, LLC and has continued to work as a consultant in the areas of organizational and leadership development. She is certified in Emotional Intelligence, Real Colors, and Communicating Across Generations.

Why the name Purple Lodestar? Anyone who knows Tedi knows that purple is her passion and a lodestar is a star that guides or leads – the North Star is a lodestar.

Tedi lives in Yorkville, Wisconsin with her husband on his family homestead -established in 1842.  Her activities include keeping up the 179-year old farmhouse and property, antiques, water aerobics and yoga.

SHRM Professional Development Credits (PDCs) and HRCI re-certification credits have been approved for this event.
