Barriers to Employment - How can HR Get Involved?
Session Objectives:
· Discuss the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article (Foxconn's promised jobs boom could miss neighboring city Racine) and what this information means for local workforce development and employers.
· Discuss how local alignment between stakeholders can address employment issues.
· Identify how local employers can actively engage to create alignment and share needs across sectors.
Please read the article linked above. It is very eye opening from an HR standpoint.
While this article is specifically about workers in Racine, Kenosha workers face many of the same issues. With the arrival of Foxconn and other new employers to the area, we should be thinking on more of a regional basis. This session isn't just for Racine employers.
Kenosha has a similar organization called Building Our Future. This organization is focusing more on children and schools at this point so they will not be presenting to SRKA at this time. They are working with our future generations of employees.
