Aging Workforce Discussion - Cafe Style
Join us for facilitated rotating round table discussions regarding the aging workforce and the challenges and opportunities it brings to our workplaces. This is a new format for us!
The workplace is shifting. According to the Washington Post, by 2030, all Baby Boomers will have turned 65 and 18% of the nation’s population will be that age or older. How are companies preparing for this shift? According to the survey report for Preparing for an Aging Workforce, released by SHRM in 2015, about one-half of HR professionals said they did not think the potential loss of talent during the next one to two years would have an impact on their industry or organization, but one-third said they believed that it would be a problem or crisis in the next 10 years.
Join us for a presentation by Katy Hansen, Aging Director for Racine County, followed by roundtable discussions that will focus on addressing the need to evaluate company strategies now in order to recruit and retain older workers and addressing the knowledge transfer and potential skill gaps.
Katy Hansen is a native of Racine County and has worked in multiple roles with Racine County for the past ten years. She began as an Information and Assistance Specialist with the Aging & Disability Resource Center for four years then provided the community with presentations as the Outreach Supervisor for the next four years. Recently, she has had the privilege of also supervising the County's Adult Protective Services Unit which consists of three investigators. Katy has a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's degree in Business Management. Katy is also a Leadership Racine graduate and chair's the program committee.
